The University of Kisubi (UniK) hosts the Next Generation Leadership Programme
(NGLP), an initiative supported by Porticus Africa to nurture a new generation of
servant leaders. The programme focuses on key thematic areas including Health,
Education, Just Societies, and Effective Congregational Management, equipping
scholars with the knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding needed to drive
transformative impact in their communities and institutions.
Under this programme, the University provides structured and mandatory
leadership formation programmes designed to strengthen both personal and
professional competencies. These leadership courses include: Executive
Management, Child Protection and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Persons and
Servant Leadership. Through this integrated model, UniK ensures that graduates
are not only academically accomplished but also ethically grounded, socially
responsible, and equipped to lead with integrity and purpose.
Building on the proven impact and success of these courses, the University has now
opened these leadership courses to the public, extending access to all qualifying
and interested stakeholders, including professionals, institutions, faith-based
organizations, and community leaders. This expansion responds to the growing

Programme Goal

The primary goal of the UniK Leadership Programme is to cultivate a new generation of ethically grounded, professional leaders who embody the spirit of service. By integrating Child Protection, Servant Leadership, and Executive Management into a cohesive framework, we aim to transform institutional cultures and foster a safer, more just society.

How we address Societal Challenges

1.Addressing Gaps in Child Safeguarding. Across many communities and institutions, children remain vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, and neglect due to weak systems, limited knowledge, awareness, and inadequate enforcement of safeguarding policies and practices. We provide specialized training that moves beyond awareness to actionable policy implementation. We empower leaders to create robust safeguarding systems, ensuring that child protection is a non-negotiable priority in schools, churches, and NGOs.

  1. Bridging the Leadership Values Gap. Modern leadership challenges often stem from self-centred, profit-driven, or unethical practices that undermine trust and social cohesion. Through its Servant Leadership programme, UniK promotes a people-centered leadership approach that prioritises service, inclusivity, and moral responsibility by training leaders who view their roles as a vocation of service, fostering trust and collaboration within their organizations.
  2. Strengthening Institutional and Executive Effectiveness. Many organisations face challenges related to poor governance, weak strategic planning, and ineffective management. The leadership programmes address critical gaps in governance, strategic planning, and management by strengthening institutional and executive effectiveness, equipping leaders to enhance transparency and financial accountability
  3. Integrating Ethics, Faith, and Professional Practice. Drawing from our Catholic values, we promote Servant Leadership. This approach addresses the societal crisis of integrity by training leaders who view their roles as a vocation of service, fostering trust and collaboration within their organizations.
